I've become known for my "I AM UNLIMITED" circles that I do with athletes, groups and businesses I work with; the energy I teach people how to create is truly limitless.
I grew up playing sports. I started with baseball when I was five and moved into football shortly after. I was trained early on to be the quarterback and continued in that role throughout my senior year of high school.
I was the type of player that didn't have to be told to run the extra mile, I just did it. I was the type of player who encouraged my teammates and gave motivational peptalks before for each game. I was the type of player who practiced like it was game time.
Throughout my 13 years of playing sports, I was always moving towards one goal, winning. My senior year came and went. I was starting Quarterback again, Homecoming King, Co-Anchor on the school’s morning news and State Champion in DECA for Entrepreneurship/Marketing.
I got a college offer to attend the prestigious Ivy League school, Cornell University starting Fall 2007… and I turned it down. What did I want? Where did I want to go? Who did I want to be? I didn't know. I was just a 17 year old kid looking for answers.
Did I want to continue playing football? After all I’m 5’7 … no one’s going to choose me to be on their football team, let alone be their Quarterback. So I decided to stay in my home city and accept my scholarship to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to study Kinesiology. In retrospect, I’m glad I did because I met an amazing girl who turned out to become my wife and met a professor who forever changed my outlook on life.
I got my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology by the age of 21 and it was during my undergraduate work at UNLV that I was influenced by one of my professors, Dr. Mark Guadagnoli, a 4x World Renowned Mental Training Coach and professor of neuroscience and neurology at UNLV's School of Medicine. He introduced me to the world of mental performance and I've never looked back. I found a passion for it and since furthered my education in neurolinguistic programming, neuroscience, sports psychology, practical and social psychology and leadership training. I love teaching athletes, teams and individuals the fundamentals of mental and peak performance.
It's interesting because I was naturally doing some of what I teach at an early age playing football, I just never understood how or why. I personally think our brains are fascinating; I love learning about how the mind works and teaching it to my clients in a simple and unique way.
I combine concepts from neuroscience, practical & social psychology, peak states, physiology and transformation to create this unique style of teaching and coaching. I'm a little untraditional in my practice and extremely hands on because I believe mixing things up is what helps get you outside your comfort zone and grow to new heights!
BE THAT 1% was originally created for myself. I wanted a constant reminder to help me when I made the leap and decided to pursue my dream of coaching and speaking.
BE THAT 1% represents a mindset. Do what 99% of what people won't do; BE THAT 1% who goes after what you want in life. BE THAT 1% who strives to get better every single day and doesn't settle. BE THAT 1% who stays true to who you are and is courageous enough to follow your dreams. BE YOUR OWN 1%.
My friend helped me create a logo back in 2013. I started putting that logo on shirts and sweaters to serve as a constant reminder. Fast forward to 2018, BE THAT 1% is now Trademarked, a six figure business, a podcast, an apparel & merchandise line, a community of people and consists of LIVE Events where guest speakers share their 1% stories and I teach about how to BE THAT 1% through the power of mental performance.
BE THAT 1% is my mission; to spread inspiration through a brand that serves as a constant reminder to go after what you want in life, that you are enough and to be your own 1%!
